From High School to Higher Hopes!

Dear Kakak Bintang,

Isn’t it deeply fulfilling to see the dreams we’ve been fighting for begin to take shape–especially when they’re Adik Bintang’s dreams? Now, more and more of them are stepping into a new chapter they’ve long dreamed of: higher education.

This month, we’ll celebrate the stories of Adik Bintang who have been accepted into university. Each story is a reminder of their endless determination—and, of course, of your belief in their potential and your support towards their education.

👩‍⚕️ Adik Yuli, A Future Doctor in the Making

One evening during Ramadan, a group of friends gathered for a buka bersama dinner. The night was suddenly filled with cheers.

The reason? Adik Yuli had just opened her university admission result—and it was exactly what she had hoped for: she got right in! She’ll soon begin her journey as a medical student at Universitas Khairun Ternate.

“My friends’ reaction made me even happier,” said Adik Yuli in our interview (7/10), recalling the moment she shared the good news.

Becoming a doctor has been Adik Yuli’s dream since junior high school. It didn’t come out of nowhere, though. Adik Yuli said she was first inspired by Korean dramas about the lives of doctors. “And then, I started to enjoy reading things related to medicine,” she exclaimed.

Adik Yuli, it seems, was born with that exact thing: a love of learning. She spent much of her childhood in Halmahera Selatan at a local learning community, Rumah Belajar Matahari. “As a kid who enjoys reading, I really liked to learn there,” reminisced Adik Yuli. It was also there that the community initiators encouraged her to apply for the Mimpi Anak Negeri Scholarship.

Being an Adik Bintang was just the start of Adik Yuli’s journey. She stayed disciplined in her studies and always aimed to be the best in her class! But academics weren’t Adik Yuli’s only strength—she also earned numerous achievements beyond the classroom. Thanks to all that hard work, she was accepted into university through the academic merit pathway.

Her determination—and the support from those around her, including her Kakak Bintang—made it possible for Adik Yuli to become the person she is today: a talented, high-achieving young woman, and our future doctor!

“Because of Kakak Bintang, I can keep my passion for learning alive.”

👩‍🏫 Adik Ulfah, From Student to Future Teacher

Coming from a vocational high school where she studied office management, university entrance exams were no easy feat for Adik Ulfah. She spent countless days and nights studying from whatever resources she could find—never giving up, even after not passing the academic merit-based selection.

One certain dream kept her going.

“I want to be a teacher,” shared Adik Ulfah with us in our interview (7/12). She was inspired by many of her own teachers, throughout elementary to high school, who supported her not only in learning but also in life.

Once, a teacher even lent Adik Ulfah a motorbike so she could get to school—a gesture she never forgot. “I want to be someone who helps others the way my teachers helped me,” she said.

Fueled by her inspiration, Adik Ulfah applied to the Indonesian Language and Literature Education major to become an Indonesian language teacher. Waiting for the result was even more nerve-wracking than taking the test–but in the end, she made it!

Now, Adik Ulfah is a soon-to-be freshman at Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta. She’s excited to dive into the world of literature—something she’s loved for a long time—and to become the kind of teacher she once looked up to.

Adik Ulfah’s story reflects the words she discovered during Hoshizora Forum #22, shared by speaker Panji Aziz Pratama: “Believe in your dreams, and they will find their way to you.”

“Because of those words, I convinced myself that nothing is impossible when we truly believe in our goals,” she emphasized.

🎓 Why Education Matters to Them

“To earn even more money!” said Adik Yuli jokingly. For her, though, education isn’t just a personal ladder to success; it’s a pathway to give back to those who need it the most. One day, she dreams of building a free hospital, supporting social causes, and even creating scholarships for underprivileged students.

Giving back has always been part of Adik Ulfah’s dream too. “I hope to share the knowledge I gain through my education with others, especially my future students,” she said.

For them—and countless more Adik Bintang—education is what keeps them going forward, what keeps their dream alive. It opens the doors that once seemed closed and offers the strength to build a better future not just for themselves, but for others, too.

And you—Kakak Bintang—you’ve made this possible.

“Thanks to Kakak Bintang, I dare to dream.”
